Beach Necessities • Snorkeling

Scuba and Snorkeling equipment:

No trip to Virgin Gorda would be complete without doing some snorkeling off Mahoe Bay Beach.  The two reefs that protect the bay from incoming sailboats and other boat traffic are ideal for beginning as well as experienced snorkelers.  Whether you decide to bring your own equipment down with you or choose to rent equipment on island from you won't be disappointed with your snorkeling adventures.

There are no lifeguards at any of the beaches on Virgin Gorda so we also recommend that beginner to intermediate snorkelers bring along and use snorkeling vests such as the one below for safety's sake.  Prices on the island are about twice that of US continental prices.  Other useful accessories to your snorkeling are tropical weight gloves, "rash" shirts to act as protection from the sun and, of course, mesh bags for your equipment.

Please do not touch the coral if you are going to snorkel as touching does destroy the tiny organisms and it takes many years to bring coral back to life.
